Two performances of the musical The Fall of Freddie the Leaf'were held
for children in the disaster area and their parents at the Iwaki Performing
Arts Center "Alios" in Iwaki City on August 23 and the Minami-Soma
City Culture Hall 'Yume! Heart" in Minami- Soma City on August 25
to offer them comfort and encouragement as they set about reconstruction. Much assistance for the musical performances was received from the Great East Japan Earthquake Reconstruction Fund, a Disaster Reconstruction Fund RID 2530 District Grant, RID 2580, RID 2500, Tokyo Ginza New Rotary Club, Nihombashi West Rotary Club, Toda Rotary Club, Japan Rotary Alumni Association, Central Nagoya Future Rotary Club, Yokohama Central Rotary Club, Toyama Central Rotary Club, Kanagawa Shonan Rotary Club, RID 2780 Ninth Group, Iwaki Group, Soma-Futaba Group, Fukushima South Rotary Club, Ritsumeikan University, Fund to Support the Fukushima Performances of Freddie the Leaf, and others. Following a wise decision by RID 2530 Governor Hiroshi Ito, an executive committee was launched centered on assistant governors to handle everything from preparation to removal for performances of The Fall of Freddie the Leaf in Iwaki (Iwaki Group) and Minami-Soma (Soma-Futaba Group). On the days of the performances,members of Ritsumeikan University and the judo club of Higashi Nippon International University cooperated in setting up and dismantling the stages. |
